A new poem

The curve of your mind, its whip and its snap
The lie of your back, the grip of your hands
I am tender when you are given to be mine.

Exhaling our histories in moments of time
To be caught in the palm of you. And love
Uttered once, its ragged spinning eloquence,
Released into the days certain and agreed
To fly across my longing to you my breath
Rushing and subsiding.

If there were a wicket gate into your heart
I would open it and leave it across the path
As I came up to your door.

Would I knock or cautiously look inside?
My heart is racing now, I am unsure I am
Hoping that I can be held.

Reticent and stumbling place me beside you
Wish me to hold the cross at each station to
Be still and joyous, being at once loved and
Loving, wanting you is at my centre,
Desire is at my core.

The angles of our words, their edges gilded
With many years of totality: love eclipsed,
More measured now.

But still I knock and I will knock again.
